Many collectors confuse the Oval Bowl with the Oval Vegetable Dish. The dishes are similar in shape; however, the Oval Vegetable Dish is smaller than the Oval Bowl. The Oval Vegetable Dish is approximately 9″ in length, about 2¾″ smaller than the Oval Bowl. The Oval Bowl came in two variations – with a plain glass bottom, and a rayed bottom. The bowl without the rays is the first variation; therefore, they will be the older pieces.

This piece is sometimes referred to as the “Large Wedding Bowl”. Even though Fostoria never officially described this piece as such, it was made similar (and larger) to the smaller American Wedding Bowl and Cover (Item 163). The top opening of the Square Footed Bowl is about 7″, whereas the smaller Wedding Bowl has an opening of approximately 6 inches.
The Square Footed Bowl was only produced for six years, so there is not a large supply of them in the aftermarket. As an eBay Partner, I may be compensated if you make a purchase on eBay. The following link shows available Square Footed Bowls on eBay.

The Rolled Edge Bowl was a popular item among homemakers. It was commonly used to hold a centerpiece arrangement of flowers or fruit on a buffet or dining table. The bowl is quite attractive when sitting solo, and even more so when flanked with a pair of American candle holders on either side of it.

This is a beautiful bowl, elevated by a stem and foot, with two handles for easily handling. It is commonly (and unofficially) referred to as a “Trophy” cup, based on its appearance and shape. It has great stability, sitting on an octagon foot. This piece will not be as plentiful as the Handled Bowl, due to its shorter production run, but is still relatively easy to find.

This is such a beautiful fruit bowl, and its purpose is self-explanatory. It has some weight to it, giving it great balance and stability on the table. With a large round foot, and short stem, it opens up to a shallow and graceful bowl. The edges flow slightly upward, keeping the fruit securely in place. If you are looking for a different type of fruit bowl, please refer to the Shallow Fruit Bowl (it does not have an elevated foot).

The Footed Round Bowl was only produced for a few years, and it was formed from the mould of the Footed Cake Stand (Item #639-CS). While this item does not appear to be in any of the Fostoria catalogs, it was sold through some of the Fostoria outlet stores. Due to its limited production run, these bowls will not be found in great quantities.
