Item Number: 600
Height: 6½”
Production Dates: 1915-1982
The Fostoria American Punch Bowls are exquisite. This 14″ Punch Bowl was one of the first to be produced, along with its bigger sibling – the 18″ Punch Bowl. Both bowls were part of the initial line-up of American dishes that were introduced to the public back in 1915. It goes without saying that both vessels are a beauty to behold, and a pleasure to serve from.
Pieces commonly paired with the 14″ Punch Bowl are Regular and Flared Punch Cups (initially known as Custard Cups). Punch Bowl Foots (Low and High) are also used with these bowls, giving them added height and stature. It can be perched on either a Low or High Foot, giving it variations in height and presence.
The 14″ Punch Bowl has a holding capacity of approximately 2 gallons and is about 6½” in height (without a Foot). The top opening is 14″ in diameter. It is the longest-running punch bowl in the American pattern. Of all the punch bowls made in the 2056 line, the original 14″ Punch Bowl remains one of the most popular.

Item Number: CC-03
Dimensions: 2” x 2″ x 2″
Production Dates: 1916 to mid-1920s
Fostoria Glass produced a variety of boxes in the American pattern. Cologne and boudoir articles included Colognes to Comb and Brush Trays, and more. While some of these same items were included in the American colored “Boudoir Sets”, the Pomade and Cover was not.
What exactly is pomade? It is a product that gives hair a shiny and slick appearance. It was quite popular in the early 20th century, which relates to the time period in which Fostoria produced the Pomade and Cover – from 1916 to 1925. Murray’s Hair Pomade was a highly sought-after product that was available in the mid-20’s, and is still available today.
The Pomade and Cover is approximately 2-inches square (measured with the Cover on). Without the Cover, the box is approximately 1¾-inches square.
The Cover is level on the top; however, the underside has a retainer ring that fits just inside the walls of the box. This design helps keep the Cover secure. It is important to note; however, that many boxes and covers (when fitted together) might have a slight wobble to them.

Item Number: 624
Length: 9″
Production Dates: 1939-1970
The 4-Division Relish is technically classified as a relish and/or buffet dish. It is a beautiful serving piece, with four divided compartments. Serrated edges encase the complete top rim of the piece. While it might look dainty and feminine in appearance, it is quite substantial for its size – with a weight of approximately two pounds.
The 4-Division Relish was produced from approximately 1939 through 1970. It is about 9″ in length and 6½″ in width – measured from one outer edge to the other. A variety of food items are easily served from this beautiful dish – from celery sticks to an assortment of veggies, olives, crackers and more!
There are not many pieces in the American line that display this particular type of edging. You can find it on the small Square Ash Tray and in the handle design of a few of the American trays. The most common type of damage found with this piece is to the protruding edge, so proper care should be taken when storing.

Item Number: 726
Width: 10″
Production Dates: 1948-1973
The Handled Muffin Tray was produced from 1948 through 1973. It is approximately 8″ in length and about 10″ wide (measured from handle to handle). While people today might not serve muffins as much as they did in the mid-1900’s, it is still a dish that can be used for a multitude of purposes. When not in use to serve food, it is quite beautiful on a buffet table – holding and serving fresh napkin linens to your dinner guests as they walk by.
The handles are truly a work of art. I find them to be quite attractive, and they are extremely smooth and soft to the touch. From the bottom of the tray to the top of the handle, they measure in at about 3½” in height.
The Handled Muffin Tray is every easy to transport from one area to the next, all with the help of those lovely handles. Even so, I try and support the dish with at least one hand on the bottom as I move it from one area to the other.
The Handled Muffin Tray was also produced in a beautiful Ruby color. The Ruby items were produced from the 1980s through the late 1990s.

Item Number: 141
Height: 3″
Production Dates: 1957-1958
Out of the hundreds of items that were produced in the American pattern, there are just a handful of pieces that were made specifically for toddlers. The Baby Tumbler is one of those few and special treasures. It was introduced in 1957; however, it was only produced for a year or two. Due to its short life, the Baby Tumbler is more difficult to find than most other American pieces.
The Baby Tumbler is approximately 3″ in height. With a flared and wide rim at the top, and a small cubed-design engulfing the other two-thirds of the tumbler, it is really quite exquisite. While the tumbler was initially designed for a toddler or young child, it could easily be used today by the young and old alike. It would look stunning on a drink station or vintage bar, and would easily work with your other shot glasses or barware.
When the Baby Tumbler made its debut in 1957, it was marketed as part of a Toddler Set. The set was gift packaged, ensuring a beautiful gift presentation. The Toddler Set also included a Baby Bowl, and would certainly have made for a unique and refined baby shower gift.

Item Number: CC-02
Height: 6”
Production Dates: 1915-1925 (Pickle) and 1934-1943 (Jam)
There are certain items in the Fostoria American line that were produced for a few years and then discontinued – only to resurface years later under a different name. As our eating and dining habits changed throughout the years, reintroduction of previously produced items seemed quite practical. The Pickle Jar is one such item, for it was later called the Jam Jar.
When the Pickle Jar was first introduced, it was in the debut of the American pattern. The year was 1915, and it stayed in production through 1925. It would resurface in the mid-1930’s under a new name, the Jam Jar. The Jam Jar was produced through 1943, and then dropped from the 2056 line.
Of all the covered pieces in the American line, the Pickle Jar Cover is one of the most unique. While the cover is easy enough to remove from the jar portion, one should do so with care. Unlike most other covers, this one does not have an official knob or handle for retrieval. In contrast, this particular piece has a slightly elevated point resting on top of its lid.
It is quite common to find Pickle Jars without Covers, as many bottom pieces were sold to other companies that specialized in making metal filigree frames, holders, and casters. These were very decorative pieces, and special covers were made for such items. There are also Pickle Jar bottoms that were never intended to go into holders; instead, they were adorned with beautiful sterling silver lids. Obviously, the Pickle Jar bottoms were made by Fostoria; however, they did not produce any of the decorative metal lids or holders.
