Height: 2½″
Production Dates: 1915-1982 (Crystal Only)
The Fostoria American Individual Sugar can be found as a separate item, or as part of the 3-Piece Individual Cream and Sugar Set. The Individual Sugar is a pioneering piece in the American line. It debuted in the 1915 Catalog Supplement that first introduced the American pattern, and continuously stayed in production until the very end – circa 1982.
The Individual Sugar is about 2½″ tall and it was never available with a cover or lid. The 3-Piece Set included a third item – a Sugar and Cream Tray, and it has a measurement of approximately 8″ from handle to handle. The same Tray was used for both the Individual and Tea-sized Cream and Sugar Sets. Of the two sets, the Individual Cream and Sugar Set is the largest. The Tea Cream and Sugar Set is the smallest.
This item also had a very limited production in Green, mid-1920s only. With a short life span, they are usually much harder to find than their crystal counterparts.

The Fostoria American Tea Sugar can be found as a separate item, or as part of the 3-Piece Tea Cream and Sugar Set. Based on the name and description of this item, its purpose was to be used when serving tea. Some folks refer to this piece as a “Mini Sugar”. The Tea Sugar is about 2¼” tall, and it came without a lid. It is the smallest Sugar in the American line.
As I have used this beautiful piece over the years, I noticed that its diminutive size does not easily allow a teaspoon to sit in it. A regular spoon looks overbearing, and it tends to slip out of the bowl. When I researched my archives, I noticed that old Fostoria ads would feature it being used with cubes of sugar – not loose sugar. The sugar was then served with sugar tongs; not with a spoon. This application makes perfect sense to me, as trying to get a spoon to stay in the small bowl is a bit difficult and awkward.
There is much etiquette involved when it comes to the subject of tea, and numerous types (or styles) of tea parties are known throughout the world. A Cream Tea, Low Tea, and/or an Afternoon Tea are occasions when having an American Tea Sugar in service would be most proper and fitting. The Tea Cream is another companion piece that is necessary for tea parties, which makes it quite easy to understand why Fostoria sold them as a set – complete with a Tray.
The Tea Cream and Sugar pieces did not have as long a production life as their bigger siblings; however, they were still made for an impressive thirty-five years! Their actual production dates were from 1939-1974.

This is the Fostoria American Large Cream Pitcher, holding approximately 9½ ounces. It is of substantial size and weight, and the 2-Handled Sugar (with Lid) is an excellent accompaniment piece. As far as size goes, this pitcher is larger than the Individual and Tea-Sized Pitchers – with an approximate height of 4″, and a width of 5½” (lip to handle.)
This larger cream pitcher had a long production life and can be found rather easily in the aftermarket. A word of caution – there is a very similar piece in another glass pattern called American Whitehall. If you are thinking of purchasing this pitcher, you will need to examine it carefully to make sure that you are buying genuine Fostoria – and not a look-alike piece.
The Fostoria American Cream is the largest of the three tabletop creamers. It is another pioneering piece in the American line. It debuted in the 1915 Catalog Supplement that first introduced the American pattern, and it was actually offered in a 4-Pc. Tea Set. The four pieces included the Cream, a Sugar & Cover, a round Butter & Cover, and the Spoon (aka Spooner). A customer could buy the individual pieces separately, or as a set.

The Fostoria American Tea Creamer can be found as a separate item, or as part of the 3-Piece Cream and Sugar Set. Based on the name and description of this item, its purpose was to be used when serving tea. Of all the creamers made in the Fostoria American line, the Tea Creamer is the smallest. It is also the least plentiful in today’s market.
The Tea Creamer is about 2½” tall and has an approximate holding capacity of 2½ ounces. Item Number: 611-PB
Height: 4⅝”
Production Dates: 1915-1980
The Fostoria Glass Company produced three different types of supports for their American Punch Bowls. The punch bowl stands that were introduced first were the Low Foots. They debuted in the original Fostoria American catalog of 1915. The Foot for the 18″ Punch Bowl was made from 1915-1980. Needless to say, it was a very popular item.
While the Bases and Centerpieces are basically the same item, there is one distinguishing difference between them. The true supports for the punch bowls (whatever the size) will not have a rayed center in their glass base. In other words, the flat center of the base (where the punch bowl actually sits) will be void of any design. It is a circle of plain glass. The same-sized Centerpiece; however, will display a rayed center in their glass base.
