This is a beautiful bowl, elevated by a stem and foot, with two handles for easily handling. It is commonly (and unofficially) referred to as a “Trophy” cup, based on its appearance and shape. It has great stability, sitting on an octagon foot. This piece will not be as plentiful as the Handled Bowl, due to its shorter production run, but is still relatively easy to find.

This is such a beautiful fruit bowl, and its purpose is self-explanatory. It has some weight to it, giving it great balance and stability on the table. With a large round foot, and short stem, it opens up to a shallow and graceful bowl. The edges flow slightly upward, keeping the fruit securely in place. If you are looking for a different type of fruit bowl, please refer to the Shallow Fruit Bowl (it does not have an elevated foot).

The Footed Round Bowl was only produced for a few years, and it was formed from the mould of the Footed Cake Stand (Item #639-CS). While this item does not appear to be in any of the Fostoria catalogs, it was sold through some of the Fostoria outlet stores. Due to its limited production run, these bowls will not be found in great quantities.

This bowl has a cupped-in rim, making it unique in shape. Fostoria Glass did not attach a specific purpose for this item; therefore, it is generally considered to be a bowl or serving piece. I have also seen it used as a vase, which was beautiful. The purpose of the Cupped Bowl should be left up to you, the collector. With a little bit of creativity, this bowl can serve multiple functions.

Once a tradition among those with well-mannered dinner guests, the use of a finger bowl soon began to fade after World War I – mainly due to government rationing orders. To properly use a finger bowl, gently dip all five of your finger tips (of one hand) into the water at the same time. With a napkin, dry your hand off as discretely as possible. Repeat with the other hand. Once finished, set the finger bowl to the top left of your dinner plate (near the bread plate).
These little glass bowls were usually served to dinner guests after the main dinner course, prior to dessert. Even though the use of finger bowls is not a wildly practiced custom today, they still would add an elegant touch to a formal dinner party. For alternative uses in modern times, we have found they make great serving dishes for sauces – and even condiments, such as olives, etc.

While similar in appearance to the Footed Handled Bowl, this later version is not elevated. Sometimes collectors will unofficially refer to this item as the Handled Trophy Bowl, based on its shape and appearance. It is a wonderful serving bowl, and when passing food around the table, the large and double handles provide great ease and comfort.
