The Fostoria American Punch Bowls are exquisite. This 18″ Punch Bowl was one of the first to be produced, along with its smaller sibling – the 14″ Punch Bowl. Both bowls were part of the initial line-up of American dishes that were introduced to the public back in 1915. It goes without saying that both vessels are a beauty to behold, and a pleasure to serve from.
The 18″ Punch Bowl is the largest of all punch bowls produced in the American line. When it was initially introduced, it was commonly paired with the Custard Cups and a Low Foot. The height of the Punch Bowl, when sitting on the Low Foot, is approximately 12 inches. The 18″ Punch Bowl is large, and if perched on a High Foot, it creates a safety issue. As years went by, the Fostoria Glass Company even changed the wording in their catalogs to state that the “Low Foot is used with the 18 in. Punch Bowl”.
This particular Punch Bowl has a holding capacity of approximately 3¾ gallons and is about 9” in height (without a Foot). The top opening is about 18″ in diameter; however, expect size variations. The punch bowl in my own personal collection has an opening that is closer to 17½” in diameter.
The 18″ Punch Bowl was produced for a very long time – from 1915 until 1980. Of all the punch bowls made in the 2056 line, it remains the largest of them all … and one of the most beloved.
